Magnesium stearate and palmitate

Miller TA, York P. Physical and chemical characteristics of some high purity magnesium stearate and palmitate powders. Int J Pharm 1985 23 55-67. [Pg.433]

Magnesium Stearate occurs as a fine, white, bulky powder that is unctuous and free from grittiness. It is a compound of magnesium with a mixture of solid organic acids obtained from edible sources and consists chiefly of variable proportions of Magnesium Stearate and magnesium palmitate. It is insoluble in water, in alcohol, and in ether. [Pg.265]

Anticaking agents commonly used include calcium carbonate, phosphate, silicate, and stearate cellulose (microcrystalline) kaolin magnesium carbonate, hydroxide, oxide, silicate, and stearate myristates palmitates phosphates silica (silicon dioxide) sodium ferrocyanide sodium silicoa-lummale and starches. [Pg.132]

TG may be used in raw material monitoring. For example, commercial magnesium stearate can comprise various components. In addition to stearate, these primarily include palmitate, their hydrates and free fatty acid. Both TG and DSC curves may be used for characterisation of such samples. [Pg.188]

The effects of common excipients and other foreign ions were checked under the optimized conditions containing a standard solution of 0.2 Xg/mL of vitamin E. No interference was observed at 250-fold for glycerol, Na+, K+, Ca, Mg +, Zn +, NHJ, S04", PO ", NO3, HCO3, Cl, methylcellulose, cholesterol, stearic acid, sucrose, glucose, starch, gum acacia, magnesium stearate at 100-fold for vitamin D, sorbitol, mannitol, oleic acid, triolein, EPA, DHA, polyvinyl alcohol, albumin, retinyl palmitate at 10-fold... [Pg.371]

Magnesium stearate is a compound of magnesium with variable proportions of stearic and palmitic acids. The magnesium content may be determined by the following method ... [Pg.393]

Mold release agents can also be included and these are typically zinc, calcium, magnesium or lithium salts of fatty acids. Specific examples of mold release agents include zinc stearate, calcium stearate, magnesium stearate, lithium stearate, calcium oleate, zinc palmitate, etc. ... [Pg.150]

A soap is an aliphatic or aromatic carboxylate, such as a stearate, benzoate, oleate, palmitate or myristate. An appropriate combination of two metal soaps can give rise to very useful PVC stabiliser systems. One must be chosen from Group llA of the periodic table (magnesium, calcium, strontium, or barium) and one from Group IIB (theoretically zinc or cadmium, but in practice cadmium is no longer used in Europe and most other countries). [Pg.61]
