Lysine esters

Photooxidation of the dGuo-5 -lysine ester leads to Z cross-linked to the lysine moiety (Morin and Cadet 1995), indicating that DNA-protein cross-links may also occur via such a process in case this amino acid happens to be in a proper position for the reaction to proceed. 

Terlipressin is the lysine ester of vasopressin. Vasopressin is a vascular constrictor particularly in the portal vein. It prevents oesophageal varices from enlarging by decreasing portal vein blood flow. It also counteracts peripheral vasodilatation and generally diverts blood flow back to the kidneys.

The coupling of the anti-inflammatory agent naproxen to the phosphazene precursor polymer via a lysine ester spacer and subsequent replacement of residual chlorine by glycine ethyl ester has been performed by Grolleman et al. (1986). Both in vitro and in vivo release tests were performed.
