Neighborhood, low-income

One study documented the paucity of opioid pharmaceuticals in low-income neighborhoods consisting primarily of African Americans and Hispanic Americans as evidence of barriers to adequate pain management among populations... 

My fifteen months at Children s Hospital were influential in developing my understanding of the interrelationship of health and social factors. The hospital, at 1740 Bainbridge Street, was the oldest pediatric hospital in the nation. It was surrounded by a neighborhood of low-income African-American families. 

Low income consumers have less food shopping choices than middle-income consumers... they have fewer retail options, limited transportation options, and often face higher prices at chain supermarkets. Thus ironically, people on hmited incomes in cities are Kkely to pay more for their food than wealthier shoppers in higher income neighborhoods. The range, freshness, and quahty of foods are also often compromised in inner-city groceries, thus further limiting customers maximal choices for nutritious and affordable meals. (Brown, 2002 7)...
