The advantages of monosized chromatographic supports are as follows a uniform column packing, uniform flow velocity profile, low back pressure, high resolution, and high-speed separation compared with the materials of broad size distribution. Optical micrographs of 20-p,m monosized macroporous particles and a commercial chromatography resin of size 12-28 p,m are shown in Fig. 1.4. There is a clear difference in the size distribution between the monodispersed particles and the traditional column material (87).

The most common osteoporosis-related fractures involve the vertebrae, proximal femur, and distal radius (wrist or Colies fracture). Two-thirds of patients with vertebral fractures are asymptomatic the remainder present with moderate to severe back pain that radiates down a leg after a new vertebral fracture. The pain usually subsides significantly after 2 to 4 weeks, but residual, chronic, low-back pain may persist. Multiple vertebral fractures decrease height and sometimes curve the spine (kyphosis or lordosis) with or without significant back pain.

Another SNRI, bicifadine (20), formerly under clinical development for chronic low back pain, is now being developed for neuropathic pain [65,66]. Flufenoxine, also known as F-98214-TA (21), was reported to display greater potency than several reference antidepressants in animal models predictive of antidepressant and anxiolytic activities [67]. SEP-227162 (structure undisclosed) is another SNRI reportedly undergoing clinical development [68]. 

Within standard BPM-schemes almost any geometry n(x,y,z) can be considered except for abrupt z-dependent changes of the refractive index. Fortunately, lO-devices usually are intended to have low loss, good transmission and low back-reflection, which is congruent with the above limitation. Thus, BPM got such popular over the years... 

Predisposing factors for low back pain include osteoporosis, trauma and pregnancy.

Recently, Tai, and Gohda [546] have reported a method using a novel technique named hydrophilic interaction chromatography, which use a polar stationary phase with aqueous-organic mobile phase. It enables to quantify acciffately AA and related compounds, to run at high flow rate thanks to the low back pressiffe, and to be easily coupled with an MS.

Clinical treatment recommendations for low back pain based, on 5 international guidelines and on information in the Cochrane database of systematic reviews, can be summarized as follows there remains a lack of consensus regarding reported efficacy of spinal manipulative therapy for the treatment...
