Loose Shoulder

It is recommended practice to break a different joint on each trip, giving the crew an opportunity to look at each pin and box every third trip. Inspect the shoulders for signs of loose connections, galls, and possible washouts. [Pg.735]

The equilibrium relationships found by Sorrell (1977) were valid only for room temperature (22+2 °C) and, because samples were allowed to cure in sealed containers, for equilibrium water vapour pressures determined by the assembly of phases present. The phases which exist under such conditions were quite unequivocally found to be 4 1 5 and 1 1 2. However Sorrell pointed out that it is entirely possible that lower hydration states of either phase could be stable at higher temperatures or lower humidities. In particular the 4 1 4 phase (Feitknecht, 1933) may well be such a phase, particularly as one of the five waters of hydration is known to be held only loosely in the structure. Indeed, Sorrell reported that he observed a slight shoulder on the larger dehydration peak of the DTG curve of the 4 1 5 phase that might be assigned to the loss of this first water molecule. He did not, however, succeed in isolating or characterizing a 4 1 4 phase. [Pg.288]

Ahead of me, Mark looks about him as we cross the garden, as curious and calm as an insurance assessor. His hair was fair and it still is, because the threads that are gray are no paler than all that s still blond, and it s short and well cut above his broad shoulders. He moves easily, with a big-boned, loose-jointed confidence inside his dark sweater and very clean jeans. He was always tall tall and fair and quiet against us little dark Pryors. [Pg.173]

Narcinko helps you tie the chain in a harness-like configuration around your shoulders and waist. The loose chain is coiled on the floor, three hundred feet of it, and the other end tied to the Liberty Bell. [Pg.146]

My rapier flashed out. They produced stilettos, but those blades looked as long as swords to me, and bravos know how to use swords. Luckily I had left my cloak just draped on my shoulders, unfastened. I swirled it loose and leaped into the comer to have my back protected. Father Farsetti was hurled aside, his yells ignored. [Pg.78]

Bows and introductions were exchanged, coffee offered and refused, then I sat primly on a hard chair by the window with my hands folded, wishing that my hair was not loose on my shoulders. Shales took the chair on the other side of the hearth. I knew that he must have spent a great deal of time here with my father, and I was acutely aware of being caught out. This used to be a place of measured silences devoted to learning, my father s... [Pg.81]

Both men were looking at me. My husband was sprawled with one leg outstretched, wigless, a satin morning gown loosely tied and his chest bare. Shales, in his dark clothes, sat slightly forward with one arm hooked over the back of the chair. I clutched the sides of my robe together and pushed my tumbled hair behind my shoulders. [Pg.82]

There is a subset of PAPRs that do not form a tight seal with the face. These are known as hood-type PAPRs. A large, loosely fitting hood usually made of a butyl rubber-coated material covers the head, shoulders, and upper chest. [Pg.568]

Cooling to 77 K leads to an increase of intensity of the whole spectrum except for Fsh which looses intensity. In contrast to F and F2, which belong to the same vibronic progression, the nature of Fjh is therefore still the subject of discussion, as is the shoulder Aq in the absorption spectrum. The temperature-dependent intensity ratio between Fi and Fjh points at emissions from two states of different energy which are in thermal equilibrium (see Figure 13.24 below). [Pg.705]

Figure 3 reports the 77K fluorescence emission spectrum of the PSII complex. We observe an emission maximum at 694 nm and a shoulder at 685 nm. When the minor antennas are separated from the reaction center core, the latter looses the capacity to emit at 694 nm, while the minor antennas isolated emit at 680 nm. This finding suggests that the 694 nm emission is a property of one or both of the minor antennas when they are connected to the reaction center core. The 694 nm emission has formerly been attributed to a delayed fluorescence emitted by CP47. However neither the core complex,... [Pg.341]

Shawls A shawl is a simple item of clothing, loosely worn over the shoulders, upper body, and arms, and sometimes also over the head. It is usually a rectangular or square piece of cloth, or can be triangular in shape. Other shapes, as can be seen in Figure 6.37, include oblong shawls. [Pg.180]

Figure 11-73. During molding, any loose steel inserts falling into the molds will damage their cavities, but brass or soft metals like aluminum will usually crush, with minimal or no damage to the mold. The flow of plastic into the interior of an insert is impeded by using a blind-hole insert and a shoulder (about x in.) around the insert opening. Figure 11-73. There are four distinct sections to the preform the finish, the taper, the body, and the end-cap. Similarly, the bottle sections are the finish, shoulder, the body, and the base. There is a loose relationship between the sections of the preform and the corresponding sections of the bottle. [Pg.730]

The WAXS data of vacuum-dried sealed membranes illustrate a polymer peak at 4.5 A and a shoulder peak at 3.3 A. This is an indication of the presence of water even after a long exposure to vacuum. NMR studies of these polymer membranes in our laboratories have established the presence of two types of water molecules [32]. These consist of loose water molecules that are in equilibrium with the environment and tightly-bound water molecules that are difficult to remove. [Pg.146]
