Looping Combustion for Power Production

Spallim, H. P. Hamers, F Gallucci and M. van Sint Annaland Eindhoven University of Technology, Chemical Process Intensification, Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven, The Netherlands [Pg.117]

The processes aiming at CO2 removal in power plants may conceptually be split into three different great families  [Pg.117]

The post-combustion technologies generally consist of chemical absorption systems that are operated at almost atmospheric pressure and with amine-based solvent. The advantage of this technique is the possibility to retrofit existing power plants, but high efficiency [Pg.117]

Process Intensification for Sustainable Energy Conversion, First Edition. Edited by Fausto Gallucci and Martin van Sint Annaland. [Pg.117]

In the case of pre-combustion plants, the Hj-rich gas is produced after coal or natural gas conversion into H2/CO-rich syngas, and, subsequently, CO is shifted to H2 and CO2. The CO2 is separated in an absorption unit (chemical or physical process may be used). In this case, the energy cost associated with the steam consumption for the WGS and the lower cold gas efficiency of the processes are partly compensated by full steam cycle integration with all the units that are used in the plant [2]. [Pg.118]
