Long delay setting

In certain cases, where a long delay may be necessary for the protective scheme to operate, it may be desirable to use the maximum steady-state short-circuit current V2 /j, for a more appropriate setting, rather than the maximum transient current i2 /, as by then the fault current will also fall to a near steady-state value, /sKr.m s.i-... 

In Problem 40 we have recorded two long-range correlation spectra using delays set for two different long-range J values, 8 and 2 Hz. The differences between the spectra give us even more structurally-relevant information. 

Induction by drugs, food and herbal medicines is usually dose- and time-dependent, and in general reversible. The induction of enzymes increases the rate of synthesis and cellular content and activity of the enzymes. As induction involves protein synthesis, there is a delay in its onset (weeks with some drugs), and effects usually last longer after stopping the inducer (a long off-set time). Drug-induced inhibition is usually competitive and occurs immediately, but it is dependent on the concentration of the inhibitor. Thus, the half-life of the inhibitor will determine... 

Suppose a long delay glitter formulation is desired. All the potassium should end up as the disulfide or the thioantimonate as the spritzel leaves the star. Let us choose these two products to be half and half, and set up the appropriate equations ... 

A short glance must be given to long-delay timing based on electronic phenomena. A DOFL (now HDL) report describes an electronic delay timer that can be set in 5-min increments to up to 49 hours 55 minutes. 

Both EdF reference sets of EOPs cover aU plant modes from normal power operation down to hot and cold shutdown, cold shutdown with RCS open, and refueUing. The diagnosis procedure is valid for all shutdown plant modes where automatic protection signals no longer exist or are actuated with long delay. 

The length of the time trace should be sufficient for the determination of the constant offset of the decay curve. This can be, for instance, measured experimentally as echo amplitude for a very long delay between the inversion pulse and the detection pulse sequence. The offset can also be fitted numerically, for instance with a multi-exponential fitting function. The set of mono-exponential decay times obtained in such fitting does not have a direct physical meaning, but the constant offset value can be determined that way precisely and reliably. The data for nitroxide-Dy(iii) pairs as well as the reference data for nitroxide radieals in the absence of Dy(in) should be measured and corrected for the offset. 

The chemistry of cement slurries is complex. Additives will be used to ensure the slurry remains pumpable long enough at the prevailing downhole pressures and temperatures but sets (hardens) quickly enough to avoid unnecessary delays in the drilling of the next hole section. The cement also has to attain sufficient compressive strength to withstand the forces exerted by the formation over time. A spacer fluid is often pumped ahead of the slurry to clean the borehole of mudcake and thereby achieve a better cement bond between formation and cement.
