C13H25NO10 355.341 Alkaloid from Corrmwlina communis, Aglaonema treubii, Hyadnthus orientalis and Lobelia sessilifolia. Potent a-glucosidase inhibitor, competitive inhibitor for intestinal sucrase. Also inhibits maltase, trehalase, glucoamylase and a-amylase. Antidiabetic agent. Amorph. powder -t IH2O. [Pg.206]

Lobelia chinensis L. L. pyramidalis Wallich. L. sessilifolia Lambert Ban Bian Lian Sha Gen Cai (Lobelia) (whole plant) Lobeline, lobelanine, lobelanidine, isolobelamine. (Lobeline has been approved by the FDA to curb the tobacco habit).33-50-71 This herb may be toxic. Diuretic, increase respiration via stimulation of carotid chemoreceptors. Treat snakebites, insecticide, reduce swelling, depurative, antirheumatic, antisyphilitic. [Pg.102]

In Chinese medicine related Lobelia species (e.g., L. chinensis Lour, and L. sessilifolia Lamb.) are also used, the former primarily for jaundice and sores, wounds, ringworm, snakebite and insect bites, and malaria while the latter is used as an expectorant and antitussive and in treating bronchitis, ulcerous sores, snakebites, and insect and dog bites.
