Loading, determination reporting results

In this communication, the results of a systematic study of ammonia chemisorption on V2O -Ti02 (anatase) catalysts of different vanadia loading is reported." Low temperature oxygen chemisorption is also utilized to determine the monolayer loading of 20 on Ti02 (anatase). Partial oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde is studied as a model reaction on these catalysts and the activities of the catalysts are correlated with NH and O2 uptakes. 

The data obtained using the test method reviewed should be reported as direct shear strength. These data can only be compared to data determined by the same direct-shear methods. This test cannot be used to develop shear S-S curves or determine a shear modulus, because bending or compression rather than pure shear transfer a considerable portion of the load. The test results depend on the susceptibility of the material to the sharpness of load faces. 

The ability of the liver to act as a depot for vitamin Bi2 (B28, G13) enables us to use this vitamin as an index of proper hepatic function. Hepatic disorders lead to an increased Bi2-binding in the serum (J5, R3), suggesting that the blood assumes a greater role in the conservation of B12. We have reported that patients with liver disease excreted invariably less than 10 fig of Bi2> 8 hours after a 50-[ig intramuscular load dose of the vitamin. In contrast, normal subjects excreted 24-40 pg, i.e., 50-80% of the vitamin in the same test (B14). Data from tests at 250,275,300, and 325 C were used to calculate pseudo-first order rate constants for the formation of H2S. These data are expressed on a standard Arriienius plot (Fig. 2) for which the linear least squares coefficient of determination, r, is 0.98. The apparent activation energy calculated from the slope is 28.5 kcal/mol.
