Living systems stabilizing factors

The configurational stability of primary organolithiums, while of no synthetic consequence, has been determined by NMR methods. Analysis of the line shape of the AA BB system of 1713 or of the ABX system of 1814 gave half-lives for inversion of about 0.01 s for 17 or 18 in ether at 30 °C, increasing (for 17) to about 0.1 s at 0 °C and 1 s at -18 °C. The rate of inversion was decreased by a factor of 8 in pentane or 10 in toluene, but the addition of 1 equiv. TMEDA to pentane restored a rate of inversion more or less equal to that in pentane. 

A1203 catalysts originates from interactions other than those existing in the binary system Cu/ZnO. The structural promotion by alumina is a very significant factor in the formulation of industrial catalysts, however, as it imparts chemical and mechanical stability required for a long-lived catalyst in large-scale reactors. 

Caco-2 cell monolayers or other cell lines as well as intrinsic clearance determination (half-lives) for structure/stability evaluation. The overall strategy for the industry is to use this screening tool as efficiently as possible, and not necessarily for all compounds in the chemical library. The standardised systems have a high throughput where thousands of chemical compounds can be tested in a short period of time and where the time for feedback into the projects is the most important success factor. Because of the importance of the measured values resulting from such assays for a forthcoming candidate drug selection, the importance of the assay for correct prediction of the human situation becomes evident.
