Liquidity demand

Orifice scrubbers usually have low liquid demands, since they use the same scrubbing liquid for extended periods of time. Because orifice scrubbers are relatively simple in design... [Pg.218]

Liquidity demand The CDS for a cash bond may reflect a liquidity premium for that name. Therefore for illiquidity issue the protectimi requires a premium, increasing the CDS basis over the ASW spread. Note, the CDS price will be influenced also from the liquidity embedded in the synthetic instrument, which may be more or less liquid. [Pg.9]

Continuous filters, particularly the vacuum variety, often suffer from maldistribution and mn-off of the washing liquid, and the wash liquid demand is sometimes dominated by such inefficiencies. Wakeman reported an experimental study of these effects on drum filters and, in spite of some inevitable data scatter, found interesting relationships, correlated these with batch leaf tests and proposed calculation methods to predict the effects from leaf test data. [Pg.347]

Establish a practical flow rate throughout the system consistent with liquid demand. [Pg.347]

Thus, to encourage wetting, 7sl and 7lv should be made as small as possible. This is done in practice by adding a surfactant to the liquid phase. The surfactant adsorbs to both the liquid-solid and liquid-vapor interfaces, lowering those interfacial tensions. Nonvolatile surfactants do not affect 7sv appreciably (see, however. Section X-7). It might be thought that it would be sufficient merely to lower ytv and that a rather small variety of additives would suffice to meet all needs. Actually it is equally if not more important that the surfactant lower 7sL> and each solid will make its own demands. [Pg.466]

The principal dilTerence from liquid-state NMR is that the interactions which are averaged by molecular motion on the NMR timescale in liquids lead, because of their anisotropic nature, to much wider lines in solids. Extra infonnation is, in principle, available but is often masked by the lower resolution. Thus, many of the teclmiques developed for liquid-state NMR are not currently feasible in the solid state. Furthemiore, the increased linewidth and the methods used to achieve high resolution put more demands on the spectrometer. Nevertheless, the field of solid-state NMR is advancing rapidly, with a steady stream of new experiments forthcoming. [Pg.1466]

Although many problems still remain to be overcome to make the process practical (not the least of which is the question of the corrosive nature of aqueous HBr and the minimization of formation of any higher brominated methanes), the selective conversion of methane to methyl alcohol without going through syn-gas has promise. Furthermore, the process could be operated in relatively low-capital-demand-ing plants (in contrast to syn-gas production) and in practically any location, making transportation of natural gas from less accessible locations in the form of convenient liquid methyl alcohol possible. [Pg.212]

An important though demanding book. Topics include statistical mechanics, Monte Carlo simulations, equilibrium and n on -equilibrium m olecular dyn am ics, an alysis of calculation al results, and applications of methods to problems in liquid dynamics. The authors also discuss and compare many algorithms used in force field simulations. Includes a microfiche containing dozens of Fortran-77 subroutines relevant to molecular dynamics and liquid simulations. [Pg.2]

Chlorine is produced as a gas that is used captively, transferred to customers via pipeline, or Hquefied. Liquid chlorine, of higher purity than gaseous chlorine, is either used internally by the producers or marketed. The percentage of U.S. chlorine gas production subsequently Hquefied has increased over the past ten years reflecting higher demand for high purity chlorine. This percentage was 60.7% in 1978 and 81.1% in 1987 (5). The majority of this chlorine is consumed captively. [Pg.478]

It IS expected that production of coal-derived pitches, liquids, and chemicals will take on a more important role in the future. This is of some strategic concern to the United States, where the demand for domestic petroleum is greater than the supply. Moreover, the quality of imported petroleum cmdes is declinmg in that they contain increasing amounts of contarmnant metals and sulfur... [Pg.206]

The SFTR reaetor uses two immiseible fluid phases (gas or liquid) to ereate individual miero volumes of previously well-mixed reaetants. A statie mixer is plaeed upstream, whieh ensures effieient and reprodueible mixing of the reaetants before they enter the reaetor. The reaetor is believed to be potentially suitable for the foreed preeipitation of erystals where the mixing step is of major importanee in determining their ehemieal and physieal eharaeteristies. Instead of sealing up by inereasing vessel size, the SFTR is to be sealed out by replieation of similarly sized eonfigurations, as produetion demands. [Pg.257]

The bottoms liquid from any gas plant may be sold as a mixed product. This is common for small, isolated plants where there is insufficient local demand. The mixed product is transported by truck, rail, barge or pipeline to a central location for further processing. Often it is more economical to separate the liquid into its various components and sell it as... [Pg.249]
