Modified ETEE films are used as wiadows ia greenhouses and conservatories due to their high transparency to both uv and visible light and excellent resistance to weatheriag (31). 

Useability of a transparent polyethylene film in hotbeds and greenhouses is obvious, since this film, as opposed to glass, displays high light permeability in the ultraviolet spectral region. 

The possible effects of increased atmospheric CO2 on photosynthesis are reviewed by Goud-riaan and Ajtay (1979) and Rosenberg (1981). Europe s carbon market is growing quickly after the introduction of tradable annual allowances for greenhouse gas emissions under the Kyoto treaty that went into effect in 2005. In this new market-based emissiontrading system, light polluters can sell some of their surplus allowances to heavier polluters. This can result in a reduction of emissions at a lower cost than if each installation had been obliged to meet an individual target but the allowances to produce one kilowatt-hour of coal-fired power can cost more than the coal itself. 

In the visible light region, the transparency of neat EVAs increases as the VA content rises. The transparency in the near infrared region is weak and favours heat retention for greenhouse films.
