Diphosphinoamines (X2P-NR-PX2) are examples of a more unusual potentially chelating diphosphine. The dimer Co2(F2PN(CH3)PF2)3(CO)2 has three of these ligands bridging symmetrically between the two tetrahedral Co centers, which also carry a terminal CO group this molecule can undergo reduction with LiEt3BH in THF to form a stable mixed valence (d9—d10) radical anion.163... 

The dark red Ir11 binuclear complex [Ir(CO)(P(/i-tolyl)3)(mnt)]2, formed via one-electron oxidation of [Ir(CO)(P(/ -tolyl)3(mnt)] by ferrocenium, contains chelating mnt ligands bridging the Ir—Ir bond.639 The X-ray crystal structure shows square-pyramidal geometry at each Ir, and an Ir—Ir bond length of 2.706(2) A.

Adducts of VO(acac)2 with pyridines have been extensively studied (see Section 33.5.5.4.H). Adducts VOF4-py416 and VOCl4-L with L = py, PhN=NPh, pyrrole, pyrazine, 2,6-dimethylpyrazine, bipy and phen have been discussed.6 A [VCUM complex (L = carbazole) has been reported.4 4 Again, the rule is the formation of 1 2 adducts with monodentate nitrogen donors and 1 1 adducts with bidentate donors. IR and solubility data have been used to decide whether bidentate ligands are chelated or bridging.
