Amazingly, little scientific investigation had been directed toward the concentration camp Lublin-Majdanek in central Poland, even though orthodox Holocaust sources claimed that between fifty thousand and over a million Jews were murdered there. The only information available from public libraries is thoroughly discredited Polish Communists propaganda. [Pg.614]

The research in the Professor Kemula s Laboratory as in other laboratories in Poland at that time was carried out under difficult conditions. There was the limited access to modem literature. Because of the lack of the Western currency, only selected electrochemical journals were present in libraries in the main academic centers in Poland. In that situation, researchers who worked in electrochemistry and in electroanalytical chemistry in Warsaw were in advantageous situation because in this city, there were three relatively good libraries in the University, at Warsaw Technical University, and in the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences. They were relatively well equipped with different journals. [Pg.322]
