Lime-Lemon Bars

Every winter I visit California to escape New York 5 chill. After defrosting in the sun, I like to raid trrf> parents Meyer lemon tree and bake endless batches of lemon cake and lemon-lime bars. Coming home, I just have to remember to leave some room in my suitcase for my clothes ...

Meyer lemons do make the best lemon bars, but usually my bootleg supply from my trips to California runs out pretty quickly. Occasionally I can find them at the supermarket. I like to add lime to my lemon bars, to give them a little more pucker, and I use whole wheat four to make the crust nutty and crisp, like a shortbread. 

Sprinkle the bars with sifted powdered sugar, and decorate them with Candied Lemon or Lime Slices if desired.
