Lime-Lemon Bars

Every winter I visit California to escape New York 5 chill. After defrosting in the sun, I like to raid trrf> parents Meyer lemon tree and bake endless batches of lemon cake and lemon-lime bars. Coming home, I just have to remember to leave some room in my suitcase for my clothes ... [Pg.70]

Note Use limes instead of lemons to make Candied Lime Slices for Lemon-Lime Bars (page lip). [Pg.75]

Meyer lemons do make the best lemon bars, but usually my bootleg supply from my trips to California runs out pretty quickly. Occasionally I can find them at the supermarket. I like to add lime to my lemon bars, to give them a little more pucker, and I use whole wheat four to make the crust nutty and crisp, like a shortbread. [Pg.127]

Sprinkle the bars with sifted powdered sugar, and decorate them with Candied Lemon or Lime Slices if desired. [Pg.129]
