Ostwald, Wilhelm (1853-1932) won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1909. He held academic positions at several institutions and from 1887 until his retirement in 1906 was Professor of Physical Chemistry at Leipzig University. His famous students included Arrhenius (Nobel Prize 1903), Van t Hoff (Nobel Prize 1901), and Nernst (Nobel Prize 1920). [Pg.410]
