Landing gear

Transportation. High performance fibers and high technology textile products have many appHcations ia the transportation area. Composites are increasingly used as stmctural materials ia aircraft components such as horizontal stabilizers, fins, landing gear doors, fan blades, and nose spia cones.

The foams, marketed by Rohm as Rohacell, are stable at room temperature to hydrocarbons, ketones, chlorinated solvents and 10% sulphuric acid. They may be used under load at temperature up to 160°C. Uses quoted for these materials include bus engine covers, aircraft landing gear doors, radar domes, domes, ski cores and tennis racket cores. Their potential is in applications demanding a level of heat deformation resistance, solvent resistance and stiffness not exhibited by more well-known cellular polymers such as expanded polystyrene and the polyurethane foams. 

Sequence valves control the sequence of operation between two branches in a hydraulic circuit. In other words, they enable one component within the system to automatically set another component into motion. An example of the use of a sequence valve is in an aircraft landing gear actuating system. 

Maraging steels have found varied uses in the aerospace and aircraft industries. These uses have included rocket motor cases, landing gear components, aircraft forgings and fasteners. Other areas of usage include machine tool and die applications, and extrusion hardware. Marine uses include hydrofoil foil systems and aircraft arrester hooks.

Some heroin addicts use Rohypnol to intensify the heroin high. Officials say this may be particularly true of users of low-quality heroin. Cocaine addicts may use Rohypnol to mellow cocaine s high and to ease themselves down from a crack or cocaine binge. Some drug abusers call Rohypnol landing gear, when it is used in this manner.

We need landing gear on planes for easy take off and landing, but we don t want landing gear because it causes drag.
