Laing Mrs. McBain

McBain accepted a position at Stanford University, California, in 1926, and Laing moved with him, becoming a 

Research Associate in Chemistry. As Eric Rideal, one of McBain s obituarists, commented  

On 1 January 1929 he [McBain] was married again to a woman of remarkable ability, Mary Evelyn Laing, who had been on the Science Faculty at Bristol and was a research associate in Chemistry at Stanford.. .. They had one son, John Keith McBain. During all his years at Stanford in the interludes of foreign travel and in India, Evelyn McBain was there to help him with his daily need, whilst she herself, apparently without effort, maintained a high standard of social activity in the home.43(b) 

Laing authored eight papers from Stanford, four under her name alone, which was now given as M. E. L. McBain.
