L,2,3-tris

Strong bases, such as potassium acetate, potassium 2-ethylhexoate, or amine—epoxide combinations are the most useful trimerization catalysts. Also, some special tertiary amines, such as 2,4,6-tns(A7,A7-dimethylarninomethyl)phenol (DMT-30) (6), l,3,5-tris(3-dimethylaminopropyl)hexahydro-j -triazine (7), and ammonium salts (Dabco TMR) (8) are good trimerization catalysts. [Pg.343]

Boron trifluoride etherate, is also a good catalyst for this hydride transfer to chalcone. Unlike triphenylmethyl perchlorate, however, chalcone is able to enter Michael additions with the 1,5-diketone followed by eliminations leading to unexpected products, e.g., 3-benzyl-2,4,6-triphenylpyrylium from 2-carbethoxy-l,3,5-tri-phenylpentane-l,5-dione and chalcone the benzyl group originates from chalcone, the elimination product being ethyl benzoylacetate. ... [Pg.281]

The trinuclear gold(I) complexes [(AuX)3( j,-triphos)] (triphos = bis(2-diphenylphos-phinoethyl)phenylphosphine X = Cl, Br, I, CgFs ), where X = Br and I , were reported to emit at room temperature with emission energies significantly red-shifted from that ofthe free phosphine ligand (2477 cm for Br with Agx 350 nm 4482 cm for I with Aex 385 nm) [41]. The chloro, pentafluorophenyl, and l,3,5-tris(trifluor-omethyl)phenyl derivatives do not emit, even at Aex <300 nm. The emission properties... [Pg.261]

Formaldehyde release biocides are perhaps the most commonly used biocides in metalworking fluids. One of die best know examples of this chemistry is hexahedron -l,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)-s-triazine, (see Figure 2). [Pg.115]

In our earlier efforts to synthesize dendritic amphiphiles, we described a triden-dron (43) which was prepared by a two-step (alkylation-amidation or triester-tris) reaction sequence applied to l,3,5-tris(bromomethyl)benzene [117]. TEM and light scattering experiments suggested that 43 aggregated by stacking of its hydrophilic exterior into a spherical array of ca. 20 nm (diameter) reminiscent of globular micelles. [Pg.54]

The epoxy resin component is made by a 2-stage process involving reaction of l-chloro-2,3-epoxypropane (epichlorhydrin) with isocyanuric acid to give the l,3,5-tris(2-hydroxy-3-chloropropyl) derivative, which is then treated with sodium hydroxide to eliminate hydrogen chloride to form the title compound. One batch contained more than the normal amount of hydroly sable chlorine, and when excess epichlorhydrin was distilled off, the residual material decomposed with explosive violence. It was later established that the abnormal chlorine content was associated with reduced thermal stability, and criteria for hydrolysable chlorine, epoxy content and pH have been set to prevent distillation of off-spec, material. [Pg.1167]
