KURASEP [Kuraray Separation] A process for separating nitrogen from air by a variant of the PSA process, using carbon molecular sieve as the adsorbent. Developed by Kuraray Chemical Company. 

Materials The competitive oxygen barrier resins investigated include Dow Chemical Company s vinylidene chloride/vinyl chloride (VDC) copolymer (experimental grade XU 32009.02), Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company s aromatic nylon MXD-6, Du Pont s amorphous nylon SELAR PA 3426, Rohm Haas s polyacrylic-imide XHTA-50A and two EVOH resins — Kuraray s EVAL EP-E105 (44 mole% ethylene content) and Nippon Gohsei s SOARNOL D (29 mole% ethylene content). ... 

Production capacity of activated carbon in Japan is widely distributed among many companies, the largest producers being Takeda Chemicals Industries (23%), Kuraray Chemicals (18%), Futamura Chemical Industries (18%) and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (11%). Lignocellulosic precursors such as coconut shell, wood and sawdust are the more frequently used, with smaller proportion of coal, resinous pitch, etc. Regeneration capacity is estimated to be around 30,000 tonnes per year. Some of the activated carbon is produced outside Japan, mainly in Southeast Asia, where joint venture companies have been established. 

A DCS-72 (Nikkiso Corporation, Tokyo) as the dialyser machine and a Pulasort iQ21 (Asahi Chemical Industry Kuraray medical company, Tokyo) as the apheresis device were used.

Pharmaceutical companies, which are interested in the terpenoid vitamins - A, E and K - will use citral as an intermediate and may therefore branch out into fragrances. For this reason, Hoffmann-La Roche once owned the fragrance company Givaudan. Similarly, salicylic acid was a common intermediate for some of the fragrance ingredients produced by Haarmann and Reimer and the aspirin produced by their parent company Bayer. The Reimer in question is the Reimer of the Reimer-Tiemann reaction and it was his chemistry upon which Bayer s business was built. Similarly, the Japanese company, Kuraray, manufactures synthetic rubber from butadiene and isoprene and so has diversified into terpenoid aroma chemical manufacture from these basic feedstocks. 

A liquid synthetic polyisoprene is marketed by the Japanese company Kuraray. This product, which is made by the polymerization of isoprene monomer, is available in a wide range of different viscosity and chemically modified grades. Because of its high purity, there is a significant market in surgical adhesives.
