Known Effects of Ionic Forces in Polymers

The solution properties of polyelectrolytes have been investigated extensively, partially due to the biological importance of poly-ionic materials. Since an extensive literature exists in this field, and since only bulk properties are considered in this review, solution properties of the poly-electrolytes will not be discussed further. [Pg.61]

Among the properties which have a somewhat greater bearing on the present review, the folbwing should be mentioned  [Pg.61]

Several investigators (30, 45) found that the glass transition temperature increases with an increase in the concentration of ions in linear poljmiers. [Pg.61]

The mechanical properties of the materials reflect primarily the increase in the glass transition (30, 36). [Pg.61]

Relaxation mechanisms in ionic poljoners (other than dispersions due to motion of ions or small ionic groups) have been investigated only very briefly. [Pg.62]
