It is bottled in a spherical decanter with a crown for a cap, which looks like a cross between the pope s private stock and a Haitian church altar ornament. Recalling the French Riviera more than the Sun King, Chambord is also a feature of Sex on the Beach. 

Throughout history civilization has treasured the rarity and beauty of fancy colored diamonds. The stunning diamond from India known as the Hope Diamond, once a part of many royal inventories, is now the premier attraction of the Smithsonian Institution (see color Fig. 4.3.1). While the size of the diamond at 45.52 carats has certainly contributed to the public s interest in the gem, the intense blue-violet color of the stone is generally considered to be its most captivating feature. First described in the mid 1600s by the French merchant traveller Jean Baptiste Tavernier as un beau violet (a beautiful violet), the gem also acquired the title Blue Diamond of the Crown or the Royal French Blue when in possession of King Louis XIV of France. The blue color is attributed to trace amounts of boron in the carbon matrix of the stone. Substitution of carbon atoms by nitrogen leads to yellow diamonds, such as the famous canary yellow 128.51-carat Tiffany diamond. 

Although unrelated, these three families are the source of unique alkaloids that share common features. They are ficine (61) and isoficine (62) from Ficus pantoniana King (Moraceae) (107), vochysine (63) from the fruit of Vochysia guianensis (Aubl.) Poir. (Vochysiaceae) (108), and phyllospadine (64) from the seaweed Phyllospadix iwatensis Makino (Zosteraceae) (109). 

There are however some older Asian examples of identification with king, dynasty or territory which have features of state nationalism. Pre-modern Chinese described their collective identity by reference to a dynasty— People of Han, or Tang, or Qing . Nevertheless, the state s requirement that officials be recruited through examinations of certain classical texts created an unusual uniformity of high culture (see below).

It has been observed that tbe conductivity was actually higher than the conductivity reported for pure diimide anion radical salts, because dendrimeric structures may produce 7t-s lac king formation in three dimensions, a structural feature differing from the usual one-dimensional structures of small molecular stacks.

King s experiments, described above, showed a complicating feature which makes it difficult to determine the borderline between gravitational and capillary moisture.
