I well remember the EA 3443 volunteer (ease 333, above) who managed to break out of the padded ward and mn down the hallway in an effort to eseape. Reliable Master Sergeant Owen Jones (age 48) ran him down and taekled him while the rest of us piled on to temporarily immobilize him. The mnaway quickly forgot that he was frightened, and we were able to guide him back to his cubicle without difficulty. Thereafter, he remained generally cooperative. No injuries had occurred and he could not even recall the incident after the test was over.

In 1919 on the advice of Professor James Kendall, Rideal was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Illinois, returning in 1920 to the Humphrey Owen Jones Lectureship in physical chemistry at Cambridge and a Fellowship at his old College, Trinity Hall.
