Plasma-jet spraying Alloy powders are molten in a plasma jet and spray-quenched against a cold heat-conducting substrate (cooling rate about 109oC/s). [Pg.545]

In the jet spray dryer, cold feed is introduced(42) into preheated primary air which is blown through a nozzle at velocities up to 400 m/s. Very fine droplets are obtained with residence times of around 0.01 s, and an air temperature of 620 K. This equipment has been used for evaporating milk without adverse effect on flavour and, although operating costs are likely to be high, the system is well suited to the handling of heat-sensitive materials. [Pg.944]

The air jet spray bar consisted of 6.4-mm copper tubing that contained 17 openings of 1.6-mm diameter spaced at 9.5 mm along its axis. The spray bar was positioned 2.2 cm above the lint batt and was moved back and forth by a small roller chain powered by an electric reversing drive. This arrangement produced a spray bar movement across the entire batt surface once every 8 s. Air from an 827-kPa conventional compressed-air source was preconditioned before delivery to the spray bar by a combination prefilter/water trap and a secondary air filter rated at 0.01 micrometer. An adjustable air regulator in the compressed-air line maintained a constant pressure on the spray bar. [Pg.55]

The shape of the fuel spray is related to viscosity. High viscosities cause poor atomization and a solid-stream jet spray pattern. Poor combustion and low power result. Low viscosities result in soft, nonpenetrating fuel spray, leakage of fuel past the injection plunger, and possible wear of fuel system components. [Pg.59]

Jet Spray, The mechanism that controls the breakup of a Hquid jet has been analyzed by many researchers (22,23). These studies indicate that Hquid jet atomization can be attributed to various effects such as Hquid—gas aerodynamic interaction, gas- and Hquid-phase turbulence, capillary pinching, gas pressure fluctuation, and disturbances initiated inside the atomizer. In spite of different theories and experimental observations, there is agreement that capiUary pinching is the dominant mechanism for low velocity jets. As jet vdocity increases, there is some uncertainty as to which effect is most important in causing breakup. [Pg.330]

A Ti-AbOj functionally graded surface layer of about 0.5 mm in thickness is formed by dry-jet spraying of ultrafine particles produced by radio-frequency plasma onto a cylindrical Ti rod. The spraying is made by continuously changing the ratio r = Ti/(Ti+Al20s) from 1 to 0 or from... [Pg.251]

The produced UFPs are homogeneously mixed in an aerosol form, cooled in the cooler and fed into the deposition chamber, where the UFPs are deposited onto the cylindrical surface of the substrate rod by dry-jet spraying [9]. The velocity of the spraying gas is about 200 m/s estimated at the exit of the nozzle. A newly developed L-shaped nozzle is used to increase the deposition efficiency [10]. [Pg.252]

On legitimate products, they are burned, stamped, or ink jet sprayed on the box and or label. On many fakes, they are printed with the lable -- maybe not in the same color ink -- but in the same print process. On a real AS, it is always a separate process. [Pg.60]
