Isophthalic acid polyamide monomers

The two homologous aliphatic diamines are commonly used as bifunctional monomers for polycondensation reactions. Hexamethylenediamine or 1,6-diaminohexane, Cf,H16N2 (CAS No. 124-09-4, PM Ref.No. 1840), which is most well-known as a polyamide (Nylon 66) monomer, is also copolymerized with sebacic acid to form Nylon 6/ 10, or with isophthalic acid. Besides that, it is applied as a curing agent for expoxy... [Pg.331]

In another study, Mallakpour and Rafiee [43] synthesized several optically active aromatic PAs (PA-8B ) (Figure 5.14) from the reaction of new diacid monomer, 5-[3-phenyl-2-(9,10-dihydro-9,10-eth-anoanthracene-ll,12-dicarboximido)propanoylamino] isophthalic acid which was successfully synthesized starting from cis-9,10-dihy-dro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-ll,12-dicarboxylic acid anhydride and L-phenylalanine and different aromatic diamines by MW assisted and conventional heating polyamidation reaction (Figure 5.14). [Pg.130]

So far we have only discus those substituted polyamides derived from substituted phenylenediamines and isophthalic or terephthalic acids, i.e. from benzene derivatised monomers. Numerous monomers containing several aromatic rings have also been u d in the synthesis of polyamides as shown in Table 6. [Pg.196]

Amorphous Nylons n (l)When unsymmetrical monomers are use to synthesize polyamides (Nylons), the normal ability of the chains to crystallize can be disrupted and amorphous (often transparent) polymers are formed. (2) Transparent aromatic polyamide thermoplastics. Produced by condensation of hexamethylene diamine, isophthalic and terephthalic acid (Sepe MP (1998) Dynamic mechanical analysis. Plastics Design Library, Norwich, New York). [Pg.36]
