Irregular placement

Harmonic Periodic or rhythmic force variations occurring in a sinusoidal manner around a tire. One phase is described as the first harmonic. When two phases are noted, it is described as a second harmonic. Lateral force variation first harmonic is typically due to a tread splice. Radial harmonic may be due to irregular placement of the belt layup. [Pg.686]

The crystalline melting temperature of the polyesters having regular chemical structures are much higher than those of irregular sequence or irregular placement of substituents. Moreover, the crystal structures of the formers appear to be much different from those of the letters. [Pg.292]

In atactic polymers, side groups are irregularly positioned on either side of the chain, as illustrated schematically in Fig. 1.8 c). A truly atactic polymer would comprise a random distribution of steric centers. In practice, atactic polymers typically show some preference for either meso or racemic placement The tendency towards stereoregularity is due to the fact that polymerization catalysts often contain steric centers, which tend to direct the incoming monomers and the growing chain into preferred configurations. [Pg.106]

Completely irregular and atactic, or fully ordered chains only exist as our idealized concepts because we cannot isolate them and prove such completely random or completely regular placement of monomeric units. More or less ordered polymers are formed by all known polymerization techniques. [Pg.262]

Our discussion above on polymer conformations in single chains and in crystals has assumed regularity of macromolecular structure. However, irregularities such as inversions of monomer placements (head-to-head instead of head-to-tail), branches, and changes in configuration may occur. These irregularities, which are considered in a later section, may Inhibit crystallization and have a profound effect on polymer properties. [Pg.58]

With irregular dolomite, Ca and Mg in cation positions are not ordered, which is accompanied by a positional disorder in the placement of. Such disordered modification of dolomite is protodolomite, which usually contains more Ca and less Mg compared with the theoretical formula. [Pg.275]

Precision placement of marks and letters, even on irregular or curved surfaces... [Pg.318]

The only real drawback of TD-PSOLA in terms of quality is that it is very sensitive to errors in epoch placements. In fact, it is safe to say that if llie epochs are not marked with extremely high accuracy, then the speech quality from TD-PSOLA systems can sound very poor. The effect of inaccurate epochs is to make the synllietic speech soimd hoarse as if the speaker is straining then-voice, or has an infection or some other ailment. This is not surprising as it is known that the effect hoarseness in natural speech arises because of irregular periodicity in the source. [Pg.441]

A source of irregularity is random side branching as in polyethylene irregularity in the size and placement of the side branches inhibits the packing of the molecule into the crystal. [Pg.29]
