Marel]a S 1974 Chain ordering in liquid crystals. I. Even-odd effect J. Chem. Phys. 60 3599-604... [Pg.2569]

All results were obtained from chains of 200 backbone atoms, averaging 100 chains to obtain M2, axial extensions, end-to-end distances, and segmental and chain order parameters and directors. [Pg.284]

For comparison, 2-parinaroyl-phosphatidylcholine (PPC) was also incorporated into the membrane preparations. For the Torpedo membranes, the acyl chain order measured by PPI was found to be lower than that by PPC, whereas the opposite was true for the vesicles. This inversion strongly suggests that PI has different interactions with certain membrane components compared to PC. In contrast, the correlation times of PPI and PPC were only slightly different in Torpedo membranes, and the values showed little difference with those measured in vesicles. [Pg.243]

Analytical shape computation techniques were applied for the detection of cavities and the calculation of molecular surface properties of isolated cavity features and other ordered formations within these resultant alkyl stationary-phase simulation models [227]. Deep cavities (8-10 A wide) within the alkyl chains were identified for Cig polymeric models representing shape selective stationary phases (Figure 5.23). Similar-structure cavities with significant alkyl-chain ordered regions (>11 A) were isolated from two independent Cig models (differing in temperature,... [Pg.282]

Its 157 operating units have day-to-day autonomy to operate in their market, subject to strict central financial controls and measurement. As SYSCO s president, Tom Lankford, stated, Our units have complete autonomy relating to the front-of-the house, customer-facing actions, and very little autonomy on the back of the house - financial controls, accounting, supply chain, ordering, and supplier relationships. ... [Pg.75]
