Established just a century earlier by William Bristol and John Myers in New York City to produce bulk pharmaceuticals, the company had quickly moved into proprietary-patented (OTC) dmgs, and then into other consumer products. Depending on how old you are, you may or may not remember Ipana toothpaste. It was an excellent toothpaste and was in widespread use before people decided that they would prefer to brush their teeth with Si02 because one can read the newspaper through a clear gel paste. After having worked on dentifrices for several years, I never understood why we wanted a clear gel for a toothpaste. It contributed nothing to oral hygiene. Other places you encounter sodium IMP phosphate fibers is in processed cheese. It is sold under the trade name Emulsiphos and is an excellent nutrient. [Pg.152]
