Intersection Syndrome

Owing to a differential diagnosis list which mainly includes wrist problems (i.e., de Quervain disease and Wartenberg neuropathy), the most important tendinopathy of the mobile wad compartment affecting the tendons of the extensor carpi radialis brevis and longus as they traverse the components of the first dorsal extensor tendon compartment, so-called intersection syndrome, will be discussed in Chapter 10.

Transplant and allergy also intersect in indirect ways. Acute chest syndrome is a frequent complication in patients with sickle cell disease and has been recently reported to be exacerbated or precipitated by asthma and respiratory allergies. Since SCT can halt this pulmonary destruction process, ongoing investigation at our and other institutions is focused on determining genetic and cytokine pathways and modulators for asthma in sickle cell disease. 

Compound 15 is another diantennary oligosaccharide, having the intersecting GlcNAc-9 linked /3-(l—>4) to Man-3. It has been isolated from the urine of a patient with64,65 Morquio syndrome type B. The 500-MHz, xH-n.m.r. spectrum of 15 is presented in Fig. 16, and the chemical shifts of the structural-reporter groups are included in Table VII.
