International Nitrogen Initiative

INDian Oceanic Experiment International Nitrogen Initiative... [Pg.588]

A hollow, porous cylinder, OD 25 mm (1 in), ID IS nun, is fed internally ndth liquid diethyl ether at 20 C. The ether flows radially outward and evaporates on the outer surface. Nitrogen, initially ether-free, at lOO C, I std atm. flows at right angles to the cylinder at 3 m/s (10 ft/s), carrying away the evaporated ether. The ether flow is to be that which will just keep the outer surface of the cylinder wet with liquid (since mass-transfer rates vary about the periphery, the cylinder will be rotated slowly to keep the surface uniformly wet). Compute the surface temperature and the rate of ether flow, kg/s per meter of cylinder length. [Pg.87]

Note that internal degradation is also an essential part of nitrogen incorporation and that oxidation reactions initially only in the environment ((3) above) became increasingly used by cells ((8) to (10) above) to drive internal reduction overall. [Pg.270]

A standard laboratory cylinder is about 5 ft high with an internal vessel diameter of about 6 in. Determine the total energy of explosion for this cylinder if it contains nitrogen compressed to 2500 psig. Assume initial and ambient conditions of 298 K and 1 atm. [Pg.285]

The mechanism of this conversion was formulated to occur by an initial addition of the ammonia at position 2 and of the anion of the keto compound (or the enamine) at position 6, i.e., formation of 124. It is of course possible that this addition pattern can be reversed addition of the ammonia at position 6 and of the anion at position 2. In both addition products an internal cyclization occurs by attack of the nitrogen of the amino group on the keto function, yielding the tricyclic intermediate 125. Aromatization occurs by loss of A-methyl-a-nitroacetamide (Scheme III.62). [Pg.146]

We obtained the best results with the Carbopack B-DA/4% Carbowax 20M, 80-120 mesh Supelco column, 2000 x 2 mm. It was initially conditioned for 21 h at 245°C, but the normal running temperature is 175°C. The injector/detector temperature is 200°C and a flame ionization detector is used. A glass sleeve is fitted to the injector and the glass wool plug removed from the column inlet. The carrier gas is nitrogen with a flowrate of 40 ml min at 310 kN m. The sample solution (9 ml) is mixed with 1 ml of pivalic acid solution (1.5% m/v) as internal standard. Then 1 ml of this solution is mixed with 1 ml 0.3 M oxalic acid solution and 3 ml deionized water before injecting 1 pi into the septum. [Pg.160]

Powdered chlorpromazine hydrochloride (50 mg) was dissolved in 50 mL of water, a portion of the solution treated with 0.5N KCl and 0.2% gelatin solution, and diluted. Nitrogen was passed through the solution before polarography was performed out at 20 C. The polarographic scan initiated at -1.2V, and used an internal calomel compression electrode and a dropping mercury electrode. The method was used for the determination of chlorpromazine in injectable solutions and tablets [153]. [Pg.128]
