Internal poly block structure

SANS in combination with contrast variation has been used to study the internal (core-shell) structure of nanoparticles prepared from amphiphilic PLA-poly(oxyethylene) glycol (PLA-PEG) block copolymer assemblies intended for use as nanoparticulate drug carriers. Three copolymers were synthesized with a constant PEG molecular weight of 5 kDa and a deuterated PLA chain of either 3, 15, or 45 kDa and nanoparticles... [Pg.1065]

The most important polyether, PO-EO block copolymer structures, having terminal poly[EO] block (structure a) and internal poly[EO] block (structures b and c), are presented in Figure 4.28. [Pg.112]

The structural and chemical properties and polarity of the nanoenvironment within a dendrimer are greatly influenced by the choice of internal branching units, core, and rigidity of the building blocks. It is worth nothing that external parameters, snch as pH and solvent can also affect the conformational features of dendrimers [3]. For example, it was established that at basic pH, poly(propylene imine) dendrimers tolerate backfolding, which results in changing conformation from a soft-core, dense-sheU dendrimer to a dense-core structure (Fig. 6.4) [21,22]. [Pg.163]

Experiments were run with natural and synthetic rubber by using an internal mixer, roll mills, and an extruder. As the gelation is a mechano-chemical process, independent of the elastomer structure, the reaction was applied to plastomers masticated while in the viscoelastic state [188]. The reaction takes place with poly(methyl methacrylate), poly(vinyl acetate), and polyethylene. No evidence for the cross-linking of polystyrene was observed. The addition of aluminum isopropoxide aids the formation of block copolymer. This technique was applied to the system polyethylene-poly(vinyl acetate). [Pg.242]

In the field of polymer chemistry, there are many terms related to internal structure such as monomers (as in EPDM), co-pol5uners as in vinylidene chloride (Saran wrap), block co-polymers (as in SBS), and interpolymers (as in EIP), etc. Polymers are giant molecules of different chemicals. A polymer or a macromolecule is made up of many (poly) molecules... [Pg.565]
