Atom-radical reactions have recently been investigated using the CS time-resolved instrument (with interleaved sampling) in Leone s laboratory [51,86]. Infrared emission from HC1 was observed in the chain chlorination of C2H6, initiated by 351-nm photolysis of Cl2 in the presence of the alkane [86]. Interferograms were recorded at 34-/is time intervals (fixed by the sampling rate of the HeNe crossings) at a resolution of 0.36 cm -1 as shown in... [Pg.47]

If the time consumption is acceptable and the image drift is negligible, a scan line can be scanned twice to separate topography and electrical properties. In this case, a first scan in contact or better in a dynamic mode without an electrical excitation is performed. The tip is lifted and for the following second scan the z-piezo is controlled in a way that the tip follows the same topography as for the first scan (constant tip-sample distance or interleave scan). During this second line scan, one of the above-mentioned measurements of electrical properties can be performed [396]. [Pg.173]

Solvent Extraction (1A, IB). A single frozen book was set in a container and submerged in precooled anhydrous solvent. The container was then sealed and stored in a freezer. As the ice dissolved, the water-solvent mixture was replaced with anhydrous solvent until the moisture content in the book was reduced to that known for the original preflooded book. At this point, excess solvent was removed, and the book was interleaved with newsprint and stored at room temperature. During this storage, fresh paper was interleaved several times to remove the solvent. Both samples A and B were treated by the same technique however, it was used at two different times. In this set of experiments, absolute anhydrous ethyl alcohol was used. [Pg.121]

Chemical Treatment of Paper. Test samples were treated with aqueous copper(II) or iron(II) sulfate solutions or with nonaqueous copper(II) or iron(III) acetylacetonate solutions. All chemical treatments were designed to obtain extensive and uniform penetration into the paper structure. To facilitate contact between paper and solution and to provide physical support, test samples were interleaved with fibrous sheets of nonwoven polyester. Sorption of metal species from aqueous media was achieved by immersion of paper samples into the solution of choice for 16-18 h. The metal-catalyst content of paper was varied by adjusting the solution concentration. The concentration ol the aqueous metal salt solutions was varied from 10 3 to 10 1 M. One liter of solution was used for every 25 sheets of paper. At the end of the treatment period, paper samples treated in aqueous media were washed with water. [Pg.382]

To conclude this section, let us summarize how process evolution is supported by AHEAD. The sample process presented in the previous section assumes that a type-level process definition has already been created. For a while, the design process proceeds according to the definition. Planning and execution are interleaved seamlessly, the task net is extended gradually (instance evolution). Then, the manager detects the need for a deviation. Consistency enforcement is switched off in the task net for the separation design,... [Pg.329]
