Interdigitated array — An interdigitated electrode configuration (see accompanying drawing) comprises two metallic electrodes, usually of micron dimensions, deposited on an insulating substrate. The potential of each electrode vs. a reference electrode can be individually controlled [i]. Applications are numerous and include time-of-fiight measurements (see time-of-fli t measurements). [Pg.358]

Certain design configurations of the electrode elements of an electrochemical cell are obvious and logical. For instance, as shown in figure 16.3, concentric ring and disk designs and an interdigitated structure are frequently used for two-electrode systems. For a three-electrode voltammetric or amperometric device, it... [Pg.420]

Earlier studies of indirect conductimetric biosensors based on CEPs have been described by Wrighton and coworkers. The devices of Wrighton and coworkers [34] used an ingenious connection to a third electrode to potentiate the response of the CEP that was set between a pair of interdigitated microelectrodes (Figure 12.3). In this configuration, when the applied voltage to the microelectrodes is zero... [Pg.1497]
