Intercalants organic

CdSe quantum dots have been used extensively in sensing and tagging applications. To take one supramolecular example, CdSe nanocrystals derivatised with simple aromatic groups at the cluster surface have been shown to bind and intercalate organic cations allowing them to penetrate near to the cluster core with consequent effects on the cluster photoluminescence, particularly quenching via k—k interactions.40... [Pg.955]

The theoretical studies applying cluster model approach [148, 149] and periodic approximation [150] devoted to the description of interaction of dickite and kaolinite with the FA, MFA and DMSO molecules have been performed. These works have studied the position and the orientation of the adsorbed and intercalated organic molecules with respect to the surface of mineral, interaction between the organic molecule and the mineral, interaction energy, the influence of the intercalation and adsorption on changes of geometry parameters, electron structures of organic molecules, and the surfaces of the minerals. [Pg.358]

On the contrary, in the present work, samples show the same and nearly stoichiometric P/V bulk atomic ratio. The procedure of the development of the VOHPO4.I/2 H2O (Precursor B) was then controlled principally by the amount of water added during preparation of precursors. The prepared samples then differed by the amount of intercalated organic material as shown by the changes of the C/V values. This results in a distortion of the layered structure of the precursor and consequently in the VPO catalyst (XRD emd FTIR). Our results confirm the fact the selectivity in the formation of MA and PA is directly related to the structural characteristic of the prepared VPO catalysts. [Pg.1221]

The layered oxide KTiNbOs will form intercalation compounds, although it does not intercalate organic amines directly. If its interlayer potassium is replaced by protons through treatment with HC1, the product, HTiNbOs, will intercalate organic amine molecules. [Pg.86]

The Si02/Na20 ratio is similar to that of kenyaite, but in contrast to the novel silicate kenyaite has no intercalated organic compounds iii the framework. [Pg.235]

Spontaneous Polymerization in Layered Aluminosilicates. Layered aluminosilicates are known not only to intercalate organic species but also to trigger spontaneous polymerization of some organic monomers. Br0nsted acidity and/or transition-metal cations populating the surface of the slabs have been reported to be responsible for initiating the polymerization. [Pg.4046]

SEM and TEM allow the researcher to observe what the LDH crystallites look like in shape and how LDH crystallites aggregate. LDH materials containing inorganic anions most commonly give materials of a hexagonal platelet shape observable by SEM and TEM (109,376,383). Materials with intercalated organic anions, however, have produced materials of varying shapes and sizes, e.g., ribbon- and barlike substances (259). The LDH carbonate particle has a typical diameter of around 1 micrometer. There seems to be very little correlation between cations used, anions used, or method of preparation and the size of particle obtained. [Pg.421]
