Intellectual Property Core

In interdisciplinary endeavors, department chairs have a number of administrative barriers that cause them to be reluctant to engage in partnerships (1) how to distribute expenses for necessary materials across departments (2) how to allocate the time commitment of faculty across departments (3) intellectual property issues and (4) the burden of adding electives in addition to core coursework. To overcome barriers in interdisciplinary endeavors, department must see the value in collaboration. A reward system to motivate these partnerships may encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and encourage departments to see the value in collaboration outside their departments, but other value propositions must also be identifled. 

MCRs have delivered biologically useful ligands from both Diversity [7] and Target [8] oriented approaches with new scaffold syntheses appearing almost on a weekly basis in the primary literature. Notably, as is often found with intellectual property in the pharmaceutical industry, many articles contain only preparative details of new scaffolds with no associated biological activities. This tool-box of rapidly accessible cores, with currently hidden biological utility, falls out of the scope of this chapter and is reviewed by colleagues in other chapters. We start in late nineteenth century Europe.

Intellectual Property. To ensure adequate custodianship of the Company s Intellectual property and, in particular to define core engineering activity over which ownership (ie possession of skills base and documentation retained within the company) must be maintained in order to give Assurances. 

Part II deals with the subject of molecular structure-property relations. It addresses many of the search problems raised in the development of new products, and forms the intellectual core of the science behind product engineering.
