Insomnia modafinil

Side effects of modafinil include headache, nausea, nervousness, and insomnia. 

The most common adverse reactions to this medication are headache, nausea, nervousness, anxiety, and insomnia (211). Generally, these reactions are mild or moderate. The frequencies with which the most common treatment-emergent whole-body, digestive, respiratory, and nervous-system adverse experiences have occurred with daily 200- and 400-mg doses in patient populations were headache 50%, nausea 13%, rhinitis 11%, and nervousness 8%. Unlike amphetamine, modafinil is not associated with significant cardiovascular stimulation.

In an open, randomized, crossover study in healthy men, concomitant administration of single oral doses of modafinil (200 mg) and dexamfetamine (10 mg), each given separately, produced a slight increase in blood pressure and the cardiovascular effects were more pronounced after concomitant administration (3). These changes were considered not to be clinically relevant and would not necessarily preclude shortterm administration of the two drugs together. The most frequent adverse events with modafinil or dexamfetamine were headache, dizziness, insomnia, and dry mouth.

Adverse reactions at therapeutic do.ses are reportedly not severe and may include nervous ncsti, anxiety, and insomnia. 

In patients with primary biliary cirrhosis the dosage of modafinil was limited to 200 mg/day because of the possibility of reduced drug metabolism in this population [80 ]. Despite the low dosage, some patients had adverse effects, including nausea, insomnia, headache, and nervousness. 

Gastrointestinal adverse events, such as nausea and dry mouth, were more common compared with placebo in cocaine dependent subjects who took modafinil 200 mg/ day, and one of 70 subjects had an abnormal electrocardiogram, hypertension, chest discomfort, a bitter taste sensation, irritability, agitation, anxiety, and tension, and there were two instances of insomnia, one instance of sweaty palms, and one case of upper lip swelling in those who took 400 mg/day [82 ].
