Primary insertion

We considered the polymer chain could be formed by either primary or secondary insertion. Primary insertion is when the monomer forms a bond with the methylene group to the catalyst metal and secondary insertion is where the metal and monomer form a bond with the propylene methine group. Ethylene must always add by primary insertion, but propylene can add either way. And, in fact, the presence of the ag secondary carbon shows the presence of a two carbon methylene sequence which can occur only if both types of insertion are in force. [Pg.99]

The action of mechanically erecting, inserting primary pack, insertion of leaflet, then the closing of the carton is another world in which technical expertise may be required. The criteria on which the form of carton filling will be decided include, quantity per batch/lot/order, size and weight of the goods to be cartoned, cartonboard caliper, design of closure flaps, and what else, apart from the primary container, has to be inserted. [Pg.124]

The actual bonding step can proceed via a insertion (primary insertion) or via P insertion (secondary insertion) ... [Pg.181]

The primary photoproduct is a highly reactive nitrene which may combine with molecular oxygen to form oxygenated products, or may react with the resin matrix by addition or insertion to form polymer—polymer linkages. Impla.nta.ble Ports. The safest method of accessing the vascular system is by means of a vascular access device (VAD) or port. Older VAD designs protmded through the skin. The totally implanted ports are designed for convenience, near absence of infection, and ease of implantation. Ports allow dmgs and fluids to be deUvered directiy into the bloodstream without repeated insertion of needles into a vein. The primary recipients of totally implanted ports are patients receiving chemotherapy, bolus infusions of vesicants, parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, analgesics, and acquired immune disease syndrome (AIDS) medications. [Pg.184]

Methylene from diazirine has higher energy of vibration than the product from photolysis of ketene, but it is more discriminating in insertion reactions into primary and secondary C—H bonds. [Pg.225]

Codeposition of silver vapor with perfluoroalkyl iodides at -196 °C provides an alternative route to nonsolvated primary perfluoroalkylsilvers [272] Phosphine complexes of trifluaromethylsilver are formed from the reaction of trimethyl-phosphme, silver acetate, and bis(trifluoromethyl)cadmium glyme [755] The per-fluoroalkylsilver compounds react with halogens [270], carbon dioxide [274], allyl halides [270, 274], mineral acids and water [275], and nitrosyl chloride [276] to give the expected products Oxidation with dioxygen gives ketones [270] or acyl halides [270] Sulfur reacts via insertion of sulfur into the carbon-silver bond [270] (equation 188)... [Pg.716]

Primary resistance A resistance is inserted into the supply to the motor. This reduces the voltage available at the motor terminals on starting, and this voltage increases gradually as the motor current falls when the motor speeds up. Once the motor has reacted at a predetermined speed the resistance banks are short-circuited. [Pg.223]

When the drug is given IV, the nurse inspects the needle insertion site for signs of extravasation or infiltration (see Chap. 2). In addition, it is important to inspect the needle insertion site and the area above the site several times a day for signs of redness, which may indicate thrombophlebitis (inflammation of a vein with formation of a clot within the vein) or phlebitis (inflammation of a vein), if either problem occurs, the nurse contacts the primary health care provider and the IV must be discontinued and restarted in another vein, preferably in another extremity. [Pg.79]

Most patients are usually aware of displacement of the pilocarpine ocular system, but some patients, the elderly in particular, may not realize that the system has come out of the eye. If displacement does occur, the nurse inserts a new astern and informs the primary health care provider of the problem. [Pg.225]

On occasion, patients cannot insert die system by diemselves or cannot retain die system in die eye for the required time. When tiiis occurs, the nurse notifies the primary healtii care provider because die ocular system should remain in place until it is time for it to be changed. The nurse changes die pilocarpine ocular system every 7 days unless die primary healdi care provider orders odierwise (Display 24-1). [Pg.225]

PI LOCARPIN E OCULAR SYSTEM. If tlie pilocarpine ocular system is prescribed, the primary health care provider must evaluate the patient s ability to insert and remove tlie system. A package insert is provided with tlie system... [Pg.227]

Mesalamine—Swallow tablets whole do not chew them. For the suppository, remove foil wrapper and immediately insert tiie pointed end into the rectum without using force. For tiie suspension form, instructions are included with the product. Shake well, remove the protective sheath from the applicator tip, and gently insert the tip into the rectum. Partially intact tablets may be found in the stool if this occurs, notify the primary health care provider. [Pg.484]

After administration of vasopressin for abdominal distention, a rectal tube may be ordered. The lubricated end of the tube is inserted past the anal sphincter and taped in place. The tube is left in place for 1 hour or as prescribed by the primary health care provider. The nurse auscultates the abdomen every 15 to 30 minutes and measures the abdominal girth every hour, or as ordered by the primary health care provider. [Pg.521]

Patient package insert and instructions are available with the product. The primary health care provider should be notified if any of the following occurs abnormal or excessive bleeding, severe cramping, abnormal or odorous vaginal discharge, fever or flu-like symptoms, pain, genital lesions, or missed periods. [Pg.554]
