Inositol phosphoryl ceramide

Isolation and identification of two novel, major lipids V-Acetylglucosamidoglucuronido-inositol phosphoryl-ceramide and glucosamidoglucuronidoinositol phos-phorylceramide Plant Physiol. 55 (1975) 120-129 ... [Pg.1342]

Steiner et al. (1969) observed, that the major inositol containing lipid from bakers yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae) upon treatment with acid or alkali lost one phosphoryl-inositol group and yielded mannosyl-inositol-phosphoryl-ceramide. The authors discussed for the original material the composition Man-(In-phosphoryl)2-cer. [Pg.281]

Ceramide-(phosphorylinositol)2-mannose, ceramide-phosphoryl inositol-mannose and ceramide-phosphorylinositol have been identified in C. neoformans [75], an encapsulated fungus that causes cryptococcosis and cryptococcal meningitis. Similar compounds have also been identified in yeasts and pathogenic fungi already cited in this review. More complex GIPC structures were found only in pathogenic fungi as P. brasiliensis [70] and S. schenckii [73,74],... [Pg.1041]
