Inorganic spedes

The photocurrent doubling has been verified for the photo-oxidation at the ZnO photoelectrode of a large variety of organic and also some inorganic spedes . Subsequently, similar observations have been made for other n-type semiconducting photoanodes cadmium sulfide cadmium selenide strontium titanate and titanium dioxide Rather in contrast with the behaviour of other above mentioned photoelectrodes (i.e., ZnO, CdS and CdSe), in the case of the Ti02 photoanode the multiplication of the photocurrent appears to be more effective in acidic than in alkaline solu-tions ... 

Some microbial exopolysaccharides contain the inorganic substituents phosphate and sulphate. Phosphate has been found in exopolysaccharide from bacteria of medical importance, including Escherichia coli. Sulphate is far less common than phosphate and has only been found in spedes of cyanobaderia. In addition to these inorganic components, which form part of the structure of some exopolysaccharides, all polyanionic polymers will bind a mixture of cations. Exopolysaccharides are, therefore, purified in the salt form. The strength of binding of the various cations depend on the exopolysaccharide some bind the divalent cations calrium, barium and strontium very strongly, whereas others prefer certain monovalent cations, eg Na ...

Inorganic radicals, formed from the reaction between anions and OH can also oxidize thiols to free thiyl radicals. Potassium hydroxide is a suitable eluant for the determination of inorganic anions with pJC values above 7. Due to the high pH value of the mobile phase, even weak adds are completely dissodated and, thus, may be detected via their conductivity. However, the conductivity of the analytes is lower than that of the mobile phase, so that negative signals are observed for these spedes. This method is called indirect conductivity detection.
