Further work related to the synthesis of copolymers with either P2VP or P4VP blocks has been reported in the literature. Triblock terpolymers PS-fc-P2VP-fo-PEO were synthesized in THF at - 78 °C by sequential polymerization of styrene and 2VP, initiated by s-BuLi in the presence of IiCl [25]. The living polymer was terminated with EO. The end-hydroxyl group was... [Pg.25]

In a related system, reaction of 6-(2"-thienyl)-2,2,-bipyridine (HL) with [AuCLJ-was initially reported by Constable et al.15,16 to give a cycloaurated product, but subsequent work by the same group identified this assignment as incorrect. Reaction of the ligand with Na[AuCl4] in aqueous MeCN gave the non-cycloaurated complex AuC13(HL). [Pg.210]

In an interesting report, a worker in a CN-producing chemical plant who was known to be insensitive to the odor of CN (Nicholson Vincenti, 1994) gradually developed unusual symptoms while on the job. Initially, when he approached the CN work area, he reported feeling dizzy and weak and developed a headache and shortness of breath. These attacks interfered with job performance as they increased in frequency and severity and eventually began to occur during safety lectures on CN. A severe phobic anxiety for CN was diagnosed, likely associated with combined personal and work-related stress. [Pg.89]

As reported in Table 10.2, the responses to 1 ppm of DMMP or 10 ppm of NH3 of four CNTFETs with Pd, Pt, An and Ti metal contacts, differ from each other, confirming that different metals interact in a different way with the gases. Although Pd and Au show similar work-functions, their responses are different, revealing that CNTFET sensor characteristics are not only related to the initial metal work-function of the electrodes, but also to a specific chemical interaction between the metal and the gas. Therefore, this peculiar sensor architecture is attractive for the recognition of gas from its electronic fingerprint in complex environment (Table 10.2). [Pg.376]

The related cycloaddition of diynes with carbon dioxide has also been developed as an efficient entry to pyrones (Scheme 3-29). As observed with isocyanate couplings, initial reports described the use of phosphine complexes of Ni(0), " but more recent work with A-heterocyclic carbene ligands demonstrated considerably milder conditions and broader scope. " Additionally, the cycloaddition of diynes with nitriles efficiently proceeds to generate pyridine derivatives under similar conditions. ... [Pg.356]

Pioneered works related to CD-based polymers for catalysis were reported by Nozakura s group. The model reaction was the hydrolysis of various p-nitrophe-nol esters [18]. The CD-based polymers synthesis was realized in a controlled two steps procedure. First, CD-acryloyl monomers were synthesized and purified by gel ehromatography through Sephadex G15. The monomers were then polymerized in an H20/Me0H mixture (v/v 1/1) using 2,2 -azobis (isobutyroni-trile) as an initiator to give polyacryloyl-CD polymers (Scheme 2.4). [Pg.20]
