Ipratropium bromide (Atrovent) is an antichoMnergic dmg that inhibits vagal-mediated response by reversing the action of acetylchoMne, producing smooth muscle relaxation. It is a newer medication that dilates bronchioles with few systemic effects. There is significant first-pass conjugation with 50% bioavailability of an ingested (oral) dose. From 21% to 30% of an inhaled dose is available for absorption.
