A chapter entitled Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy and Spectral Imaging of Individual Cells was published in 2009 in the first edition of this volume [1]. In the ensuing 4 years, enormous progress was achieved in the field of vibrational spectroscopy of individual cells in fact, so much progress that in this revised chapter, only infrared (IR) results from the authors laboratory, the Laboratory of Spectral Diagnosis (LSpD), will be presented. For the Raman results from the LSpD, the reader is referred to the original literature [2-8].
