INDEX resistance increase

Carvedilol significantly reduces systemic blood pressure, pulmonary artery pressure, right atrial pressure, systemic vascular resistance, and heart rate, while stroke volume index is increased. [Pg.152]

Rockwell hardness (index 80) was enough for the teeth therefore, improved hardness could be attained by EB irradiation without any mixing of hardening materials. As the wear resistance increased by about 40%, the life could be extended to twice or so. [Pg.330]

Antimony Oxide. The effect of antimony trioxide on the oxygen index of flexible poly(vinyl chloride) containing from 20 to 50 parts of plasticizer is shown in Figure 2. The flame resistance as measured by the oxygen index increases with the addition of antimony oxide until the oxygen index appears to reach a maximum at about 8 parts of Sb202. Further addition of antimony oxide does not have any increased beneficial effect. [Pg.459]

Molybdenum Oxide. Molybdenum compounds incorporated into flexible PVC not only increase flame resistance, but also decrease smoke evolution. In Table 10 the effect of molybdenum oxide on the oxygen index of a flexible PVC containing 50 parts of a plasticizer is compared with antimony oxide. Antimony oxide is the superior synergist for flame retardancy but has Httle or no effect on smoke evolution. However, combinations of molybdenum oxide and antimony oxide may be used to reduce the total inorganic flame-retardant additive package, and obtain improved flame resistance and reduced smoke. [Pg.460]

Much effort has been made by catalyst manufacturers to improve catalyst atttition resistance and thus reduce the formation of fines (see Catalysts, supported). In the 10-year petiod from 1980 to 1990, most catalyst manufacturers improved the atttition resistance of their catalyst by a factor of at least 3—4. This improvement was achieved even though the catalyst zeoHte content duting this petiod was continually increasing, a factor that makes achieving catalyst hardness more difficult. As an example of the type of atttition improvement that has been achieved, the catalyst atttition index, which is directiy related to catalyst loss rate in a laboratory attrition test, decreased from 1.0 to 0.35 for one constant catalyst grade during 1989—1990 (37). [Pg.214]

El theory In each case displacing material from the neutral plane makes the improvement in flexural stiffness. This increases the El product that is the geometry material index that determines resistance to flexure. The El theory applies to all materials (plastics, metals, wood, etc.). It is the elementary mechanical engineering theory that demonstrates some shapes resist deformation from external loads. [Pg.141]

The melt index (MI) or melt flow index (MFT) is an inverse measure of viscosity. High MI implies low viscosity and low MI means high viscosity. Plastics are shear thinning, which means that their resistance to flow decreases as the shear rate increases. This is due to molecular alignments in the direction of flow and disentanglements. [Pg.449]
