INDEX locus

We should first correct the wavevector inside the crystal for the mean refractive index, by multiplying the wavevectors by the mean refractive index (1 + IT). This expression is derived from classical dispersion theory. Equation (4. 18) shows us that is negative, so the wavevector inside the crystal is shorter than that in vacuum (by a few parts in 10 ), in contrast to the behaviom of electrons or optical light. The locus of wavevectors that have this corrected value of k lie on spheres centred on the origin of the reciprocal lattice and at the end of the vector h, as shown in Figure 4.11 (only the circular sections of the spheres are seen in two dimensions). Semantic Eye (Casher and Rzepa 2006) is a test-of-principle scheme for the semantic enrichment of journal articles. Rather unusually, it treats the PDF as the locus of semantic enrichment. The identifiers are mapped onto RDF triples that are then serialized as XML using Adobe s Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) schema within the PDF. It uses InChls as identifiers for molecules and DOIs for the articles themselves. The idea is that the identifiers derived from the PDFs can be stored locally on a user s machine inside the PDFs, which are then mined by desktop indexing services, creating a sort of semantic intranet or semantic desktop. Exactly how the identifiers are assigned to the papers in the first place is left open to the user. 

The monomers chosen for these investigations are shown in Table I. They were selected so that a range of properties changed depending on the pair selected for the synthesis of these semi-1-IPNs (34). Factors of particular interest were the water solubility of the monomers, which could influence the locus of polymerisation and the relative hydrophilicities of the homopolymers as indexed by critical surface tension. This program takes the S. cerevisiae reference sequence for each locus and runs a Blast search against the Rfam database. If there is a hit with an expectation value below some cutoff (default E < 10 the name of the matching database query is added as a new field to the data file.
