Our PBDE results were consistent with reported data for river sediments. PBDEs were determined in Swedish river sediments at 8-50 ng/g dw [29]. Similar values were found in Japanese river sediments, with concentration levels between 21 and 59 ng/g dw [30]. In 2005, the EES A [62] made an estimation of PAE exposure in human populations based on the limited available literature on DEHP, DBP, BBP, DiNP, and DiDP concentration in foods and diets. Some studies have been conducted in two different populations in United Kingdom (UK) and Denmark from 1996 to 2003 [124—129]. Based on the information obtained from the mentioned studies, the EFSA estimated the daily oral intake and the maximum dietary exposure (calculated in the 95th percentile) (MDE) for the most used PAEs (Table 3).

The CEPM has approved diploma courses in pharmaceutical medicine in United Kingdom (2), Switzerland, Belgium, Spain (2) and Sweden. The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (London) has recognised two diplomas, in Belgium and Switzerland, as equivalent to the United Kingdom. 

In Sri Lanka some elements of chemical education have been introduced into university chemistry courses. Chemical education is also available as an optional study for a small proportion of the chemistry undergraduates in united kingdom. 

Recently some initiatives have been taken in United Kingdom to increase the role of schools in the teacher training process. This is quite evident in the articled teacher scheme, which requires student teachers to spend most of a 2-year training period working under supervision in a school that shares responsibility for students professional development with a training institution. 

The type and extend of educations that training institutions can offer to their students depends on various factors. A need is felt to identify the skill areas which the trainee teacher ought to develop.
