Impregnation of fibers

Hilakus, W., Resin impregnation of fiber structures, US Patent 4 728 387, 1986. [Pg.562]

Use Binder for carbon electrodes, base for paints and coatings. Impregnation of fiber pipe for electrical conduits and drainage, foundry core compounds, briquetting coal, tar-bonded refractory brick, paving and roofing, plasticizers for elastomers and polymers, extenders, saturants, impregnants, sealants. [Pg.311]

Special methods of incorporation slurry process in which polymer powder and fibers are suspended in water followed by dewatering and wet sheet formation similar to paper manufacture technology melt impregnation of fiber bundles in equipment containing fluidized bed zone and heating zone followed by extrusion through die filler encapsulation is faster than blend compatibilization therefore filler must be added to compatibilized blend " compatibilizers were used with glass beads to improve mechanical properties of composite ... [Pg.663]

Simulations should be able to address the slow filUng of the tows in textile like fabrics and predict the delayed impregnation of fiber bundles as compared to the impregnation of the empty spaces between the tows due to the dual scale permeabilities in the fiber preform. This feature allows one to investigate whether microvoids remain in the preform after the resin injection is discontinued at the end of the mold filling. ... [Pg.300]

The thermal expansion core variation proceeds according to the conventional RTM process except for the insertion of a foam core along with the preform into the rigid mold. After resin injection the entire mold is tempered leading to an expansion of the foam core. The suppression of the preform causes higher fiber volume fractions and a better impregnation of fibers [68]. [Pg.26]

It was concluded that the geopolymer resins modified with phosphoric acid showed low viscosity and long pot life, suitable to performing the impregnation of fibers. On the other hand a... [Pg.297]
