Impact frustration

It is significant that the earliest records of life on Earth start shortly after the period of impact frustration. Apparently life formed as soon as the conditions permitted it. Life originated from compounds produced by prebiotic organic chemistry. The source of the molecules included those produced on Earth by energetic processes such as impacts and electrical discharges as well as those that fell in from space. Whatever processes occurred, they would have had to happen either in the deep ocean or in what might have been rare regions of land and shallow water.

Impact frustration A process typified by the extinction of the dinosaurs where the Earth s surface may have been sterilised of all life forms by the impact of a large meteorite or comet... 

Impact frustration The collision of a large meteorite with a planet that results in the extinction of some or all species on the planet, causing the sterilisation of life. An example would be the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Eventually, those with OCD, fed up with the constant pressure of their ego-dystonic thoughts and behaviors, might seek treatment on their own accord. Alternatively, they might seek treatment with encouragement, or coercion, from concerned family members who are frustrated with the impact of the patient s illness on family life. Children with OCD, for whom the obsessions are more likely to be ego-syntonic, seldom seek treatment but are virtually always forced into treatment by understandably worried parents.

For the achiral poly(5-methyl-pentene-l), the chiral, frustrated phase is actually the more stable one, and can be obtained by melting and recrystallization of a less stable antichiral phase. 

While ee are sometimes frustrated by the limits still curtailing our atomistic simulation efforts, it is sobering to consider the complexities of predicting, to an acceptable level, the various economic factors that might impact the viability of a commercial process. 

One response to this frustration is a retreat to the realm of appearances and miniatures—to model cities and Potemkin villages, as it were. It is frustrating that the results of the study are somewhat equivocal. We are pleased that the CAMS study confirms the strong anecdotal evidence of the benefit of cannabis for some people with MS. It is particularly encouraging that patients receiving cannabis perceived an improvement in both spasticity and pain, when compared with those on placebo, and that no significant side-effects were reported. However, it is clear that the primary assessment tool used to measure spasticity, the Ashworth Scale, has failed to capture the full impact of this aspect of MS.
