Ignore mode

The resulting descriptor is simpler than a complete one and is useful if the ignored atom type has no meaning for the task to be represented — for instance, by ignoring hydrogen atoms with t = H (ignore mode). [Pg.132]

RDF. The distance mode dehnes the mode for distance calculation available modes are Cartesian distances, bond-path distances, and topological distances. Descriptors may be calculated on particular atoms. Exclusive mode restricts the calculation to the atom type, and with ignore mode the selected atom type is ignored when calculating the descriptor. In partial-atom mode an atom number has to be given instead of the atom type. The second atom property is available if 2D RDF is selected as code method. [Pg.153]

The basic idea of NMA is to expand the potential energy function U(x) in a Taylor series expansion around a point Xq where the gradient of the potential vanishes ([Case 1996]). If third and higher-order derivatives are ignored, the dynamics of the system can be described in terms of the normal mode directions and frequencies Qj and Ui which satisfy ... [Pg.72]

For the preceding modes, the discussion implicitly assumed the normal conditions for PIXE analysis (i.e., few mm-diameter beam, approximately constant beam current, and specimen in vacuum), and ignored the crystallographic nature of the specimen. However, some of the most interesting PIXE results have been obtained using other modes. [Pg.365]

For the shear buckling mode in Figure 3-55, the fiber displacements are equal and in phase with one another. The matrix material is alternately sheared in one direction and then the other as the x-direction is traversed. However, changes in deformation in the y-direction are ignored. Thus, the shear strains are presumed to be a function of the fiber-direction coordinate alone. The matrix is sheared according to... [Pg.179]

A possible adjunct to the laminate design procedure is a specific laminate failure criterion that is based on the maximum strain criterion. In such a criterion, all lamina failure modes are ignored except for fiber failure. That is, matrix cracking is regarded as unimportant. The criterion is exercised by finding the strains in the fiber directions of each layer. When these strains exceed the fiber failure strain in a particular type of layer, then that layer is deemed to have failed. Obviously, more laminae of that fiber orientation are needed to successfully resist the applied load. That is, this criterion allows us to preserve the identity of the failing lamina or laminae so that more laminae of that type (fiber orientation) can be added to the laminate to achieve a positive margin of safety. [Pg.453]

In the skill-based mode, recovery is usually rapid and efficient, because the individual will be aware of the expected outcome of his or her actions and will therefore get early feedback with regard to any slips that have occurred that may have prevented this outcome being achieved. This emphasizes the role of feedback as a critical aspect of error recovery. In the case of mistakes, the mistaken intention tends to be very resistant to disconfirming evidence. People tend to ignore feedback information that does not support their expectations of the situation, which is illustrated by case study 1.14. This is the basis of the commonly observed "mindset" syndrome. [Pg.76]

Both share more or less the same merits but also the same disadvantages. The beneficial properties are high OCV (2.12 and 1.85 V respectively) flexibility in design (because the active chemicals are mainly stored in tanks outside the (usually bipolar) cell stack) no problems with zinc deposition in the charging cycle because it works under nearly ideal conditions (perfect mass transport by electrolyte convection, carbon substrates [52]) self-discharge by chemical attack of the acid on the deposited zinc may be ignored because the stack runs dry in the standby mode and use of relatively cheap construction materials (polymers) and reactants. [Pg.206]

In spite of the general insensitivity of the intraligand, vibrational modes to cluster size, there are a few specifics worth mentioning, particularly with respect to vc=c (ignoring effects of coupling with 6chj... [Pg.127]

The reactor is operated in the semibatch mode with component A being sparged into the stirred tank. Unreacted A and the reaction products leave through the gas phase so that the mass of liquid remains constant. To the extent that these assumptions are true and the catalyst does not deactivate, a pseudo-steady-state can be achieved. Find (flg)o j. Assume that Henry s law is valid throughout the composition range and ignore any changes in the gas density. [Pg.391]

Principles and Characteristics Both mid-IR (2.5-50 p.m) and near-IR (0.8-2.5 p.m) may be used in combination to TLC, but both with lower sensitivity than UV/VIS measurements. The infrared region of the spectrum was largely ignored when the only spectrometers available were the dispersive types. Fourier-transform instruments have changed all that. Combination of TLC and FTIR is commonly approached in two modes ... [Pg.532]

Constraints (11.17) shows how the variation in duration due to the heat integration mode is accounted for in the mathematical model. It is very likely that the duration times will be affected by the mode of operation and this should not be ignored in the formulation. [Pg.241]

It is not as if the Mendelians were unaware of this move that they made. Their opponents, the biometricians (particularly Pearson) objected vehemently but were ignored - see Provine (1971) for a history. In the German context Sapp (1987) provides some relevant historical detail, although his main focus is on non-genetic inheritance rather than alternative modes of non-Mendelian genetic inheritance. [Pg.194]
