Identifying Weak or Missing Contingency Elements

Because weak or missing antecedents can often be addressed with a one-time action such as training, job aids, or equipment repair, antecedent solutions are easiest to implement. Table 22.1 lists antecedent approaches. 

Provide education that includes relevant job theory and factors. Consider such job aids as signs, posters, checklists, and other training devices. 

Provide training that includes practice and demonstration of mastery. Also, ensure the selection process identifies individuals with the physical capability to perform the task safely. 

Are tools and equipment available Provide tools and equipment. 

Are they in good condition Are they easily and quickly accessible
