I drying

I) Dry carbon tetrachloride may be prepared by distillation of the commercial product and rejection of the first 20 per cent, of the distillation. 

On one occasion I dried the two solvents with Sodium sulphate, I m not sure if this affected my yields, but if it s very humid where you live then this would be a good idea. It certainly wouldn t harm if you want to be thorough. 

Lithium hypochlorite is used in I I laundry detergents and I I dry laundry bleaches. Like sodium hypochlorite, it does not precipitate soaps and other anionic detergents. However, lithium hypochlorite is an expensive source of available chlorine and not much is used for bleaching. Its principal use is as a shocking agent for swimming pool disinfection.

Acetylene derivatives and substances containing labile halogen The dried chromatograms are homogeneously sprayed with spray solution I, dried in a stream of hot air and sprayed once more with the same solution. The color can then be intensified by spraying with sodium hydroxide solution (10 mol/1) [8]. 

Alkylating agents The chromatograms are freed from mobile phase, then sprayed homogeneously with spray solution I, dried briefly in a stream of cold air, sprayed homogeneously with spray solution II and then heated to 105 —140 °C for 10 — 25 min. After coohng to room temperature they are then sprayed with spray solution III [9,10]. 

The chromatograms are freed from mobile phase (10 min stream of warm air), immersed for 1 sin solution I, dried for 10 minat 110°C, then immersed in solution II and finally heated once again for 10 min to 110°C.

The British Pharmacopoeia (1993) recognizes five methods for the sterilization of pharmaceutical products. These are (i) dry heat (ii) heating in an autoclave (steam sterilization) (iii) filtration (iv) ethylene oxide gas and (v) gamma or electron radiation. In addition, other approaches involving steam and formaldehyde and ultraviolet (UV) light have evolved for use in certain situations. For each method, the possible permutations of exposure conditions are numerous, but experience and product stability... 

Plant material should be added to a disk mill (grain or seed matrices) or a vertical batch processor (all other matrices). Add an equal portion of pelletized dry-ice to the sample (vertical processor only). Macerate the plant sample (or sample -I- dry-ice) until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Soil samples should be well mixed or...
